Long ago, I moved from one small town in Ohio to another. I always enjoyed meeting new friends, having new adventures, discovering new sights. That continued and continues to this day, and is one of my favorite things about traveling: the discovery, adventure, an endless array of interesting people and things.
And at some point, I either read or heard something that stuck with me, that I remembered many, many times as life went on, and always appreciated. This is paraphrased, and if you know the original “author”, please share in comments.
I hope it makes as much sense to you as it did to me!

A man moved from one town to another. As he was getting settled in his new home, he visited the local coffee shop, where he met a friendly local woman.
“Hello!” said the new man. “I just moved here. I was wondering, what are the people here like?”
“A pleasure to meet you,” said the woman. “What were the people like in the last place you lived?”
“_____________,” said the man.
“Well, you will find they are exactly the same here,” said the woman.

This has always been true for me. What do you expect? What do you find?
“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”
